Some more Camry hybrid MPG numbers

32 mile commute to work (minimal traffic - HWY and local roads)                       - 46.2 MPG
32 mile commute from work (heavy traffic - HWY and local roads)                      - 35.8 MPG

4 mile round trip to supermarket (stop and go - local roads)                                - 28.2 MPG

                                                                                                                         ---------

First visit to the gas station with the new hybrid

Instead of being near empty I only used 9 gallons of gas and averaged 36.1 MPG.

In addition I was able to time it with driving my daugher to work and fill up at the last gas station under $4 per gallon (I drive righ past the COSTCO on the way to drop off my daugher on Friday).

The mileage it about 32 on though short errands and above 40 on commutes to and from work.

Also, I am learning to be better at squeezingmore MPGs out of the car.

Best Electric Bill and Water Bill ever

Here is my electricity numbers...

$166.78 vs $365.55 and an average usage 29.57 KWH vs 50.07 KWH

Here are my water number...

9 CCF for the month (vs 18 CCF last year)

Still loooking for more improvements. The only thing that went in reverse was my natural gas bill.

Energy Comparison This Year
Days
Therms Daily Average Last Year

Feb 31 87 2.81 32 116 3.63

For my part I am working on improving that as well but, I can not control the weather and by local standards it has been cooler then usual therefore the heat has ran more then last year and we have been cooking at home a lot more which is a good thing and saves more then the bit of natural gas money we save or going out to eat.

Give me some more ideas.

Thanks,

Aaron

The water usage is next...

I started my fixing and or replacing several broken faucets this weekend and have parts for 2 more. I replaced 4 bathroom faucets and have the parts for the remaining two.

I need to get a replacement for the master bathroom tub faucet but, my local home improvement place did not have what I need in stock (still searching).

In short virtually all my faucets were leaking some into the sink a couple where starting to drip on the underside. Luckly I caught it before it became a real issue (I had no mold).

Because of that a the lack of help from Price Pfister I choose to replace everone (never with Price Pfister) since. I am hoping over the next few weeks to have the remaining ones replaced. Ever single faucet that is broken was Price Pfister and I will never buy thier products again and will recommend against them even though they are a locally based company since they refused to give me replacement faucets.

I hope this stop the wasting of water and save money total investment of I am guessing $700. I expect the pay off to be 18 months. But, this was done to pevent damage then as a month by month savings.

$300 more in savings

Progress in the attic is slowed now by the smoke of the various Southern California fires. I can not work up in the attic. My home is not in any danger but, the air quality is poor.

In addition the fires have me running the fans on my AC system 24 hours a day to circulate the air through the filters. It at least keeps the air clean.

But, another $313 in savings.

Life is busy but the savings and progress continues

My September electric bill which encompases the record temps we had a few weekss ago is in...

09/21/2007

30

68.67

$ 433.26

09/21/2006

30

91.93

$ 777.72

Almost a $345 savings.

Even my water usage was 15% less then last year.

Now that the tempature is down to something more comfortable I can finish my other household projects. I want some more ideas from people that will save money and help the enviroment.

Since March this year my electric bill has been $2,194.28 versus the prior year it was $4,381.09. That is 50% less cash and a $2,186.81 savings. This is with an investment of $551 (excluding fridge - $851 including the fridge). FYI not everything that I have spent money on like the motion sensor switches and all are in place yet.

One good deed...

One of the folks I gave a dozen CFLs to came up to me and said he had two ceiling fans for me if I wanted them... I took them and I am going to use them in my kids rooms.

Helping others - helps yourself,
